SEO And Some Truth Related Information You Need Know

Search engines are not human. To some people this may be obvious, but to others, this is a revelation. How you and I view a web page differs greatly from how search engines view a web page. Simply put, search engines are text-driven; they crawl the web looking mainly at the text on a web site to get an idea of what that site is about. This is just a brief explanation of what search engines do. As we will see next, search engines perform several activities in order to deliver search results – crawling, indexing, processing, and calculating crawling.

Search engines scan the internet to see what is out there. This is called ”crawling” and is performed by a software program known as a spider, a crawler, or a Googlebot, as is the case with Google. Spiders follow links from one web page to another, indexing everything they find on their way. Keep in mind that on the web there are over 20 billion web pages; it is impossible for a spider to visit every site daily to see if there have been any minor changes or new pages added. There are times when spiders will not visit a site for a month or two. The time between your web site getting crawled and indexed is the ideal time to work on your SEO. You can see the last time your site was crawled by hitting the cache link at the end of your Meta data. (At the end of a websites description when you do a search online, or to the right of the URL when you do a search online in one of the major search engines)

As stated above, spiders are not humans, they do not see the same things as we do; they do not see images, Flash movies, JavaScript, frames, password protected pages and directories. If you have a lot of these on your site you should run the spider simulator to see if they are viewable by the spiders. If they are not viewable by the spiders, then they are not indexed, or processed. In other words if the spider can’t read it, it doesn’t exist for search engines.

Indexing

After a web page is crawled, the next step indexing. Indexing is the process of identifying the words and expressions that best describe the page and assigning the page to particular keywords. The indexed page is stored in a huge database from where it can be retrieved later. For humans it is not possible to process such a large amount of information, but search engines generally deal with this task just fine.

At times the spiders may not get the meaning of a web page right, but you can help them by optimizing your site. It will be easier for spiders to classify your pages correctly and ultimately get you ranked higher.

Processing

When Omaha SEO Expert initiates a search request the search engine processes it. It compares the search string (the key words or key phrases from a search request) with the indexed pages in the search engine’s database.

Calculating

Since there are likely millions of pages containing the search string, the search engine starts calculating the relevancy of each of the pages in its indexed searched string.
algorithms
In mathematics and computer science, an algorithm is an effective method expressed as a finite list of well-defined instructions for calculating a function. Algorithms are used for calculation, data processing, and automated reasoning.

Several algorithms are used to calculate a web site’s relevancy. Each one of these algorithms has unique weights for common factors, such as keyword placement, title tags, keyword density, links or metatags. This is why when you look something up on Google and Yahoo!, the item does not always show up in the same spot within the search result. Each of these Omaha SEO Expert use different algorithms to see what web pages have more relevance to the search term you are looking for.
It is a known fact that the major search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing periodically change their algorithms. So if you want to stay at the top you also need to adapt your web site to the latest changes in the algorithms. This is one reason to devote permanent efforts to SEO.

Retrieving

The final step in the search engine’s activity is retrieving the results. It is nothing more than simply displaying the results in the browser; the millions of pages of searched and indexed results that are listed from the most relevant to the very least relevant sites.
