A leading motorsport fabrication company in Buckinghamshire received an unusual gift this week to celebrate the launch of their new range of super-lightweight motorcycle exhausts.
GoodFabs, who make hand-fabricated exhaust systems for Formula 1 teams, were both surprised and delighted to receive a fully-working Super Minibike at their Long Crandon workshop from a company in Japan.
GoodFabs Managing Director, Neil Morgan explains; “We had recently visited Tokyo to discuss our plans to produce lightweight, hand-fabricated after-market motorcycle exhaust systems with potential partners in Japan, one of whom absolutely loved the idea.
“They mentioned at the end of the meeting that they would like to send us a fully-branded bike to display in our workshop but to be honest, we never dreamed it would happen. It’s the perfect gift to celebrate the launch of our hand-made Titanium and Inconel motorcycle exhaust systems and will take pride of place at our offices.”
Uchiumi Gikas, a Japanese company that make exhausts for Honda race bikes also create mini super bikes, which are raced by children on mini race circuits. They had the bike ‘wrapped’ in the Good Fabs logo and colours and sent it over as a gift.
Good Fabrications, or GoodFabs as they are widely known, are respected in Formula 1 and NASCAR as a high-quality fabricator of development and race exhaust systems. They are now using the materials, equipment, tooling and their race experience to introduce specialist design, fabrication and machining skills to the road biking fraternity.
GoodFabs has initially developed two premium after-market systems under the GF Moto brand name: the GF Moto Inconel Header Set for the BMW S1000RR and the GF Moto Titanium Header Set for the Honda Africa Twin. Both these lightweight systems will be fabricated using the same lightweight alloys and processes the company has so successfully applied to their F1 fabrication. Closely following the contours of the bike and made in limited numbers, the systems will provide additional power and exclusivity to these highly desirable machines. The BMW system is complimented by a Titanium silencer, the design of which is now being developed for additional motorcycle models.
